Hello all, I bet you thought I'd been abandoning you - I guess in some ways I was. I've enjoyed the past week being away from the computer, although my iPhone was never too far away. Actually I bet you didn't even miss me did you? :-)

It feels like Christmas
It's really this week... CHRISTMAS! Oh oops I actually shouted that bit as I typed it! Ha! What is it about Christmas that brings out the big kid in me? EVERYTHING!

Gingerbread men
I love the smell of making gingerbread. It's one of my favourite Christmas smells. So here's my tried and tested gingerbread men recipe and remember the thickness of the dough determines how your "men" will turn out!

Happiness is an unexpected hug
I love hugs. Big or small, I love hugs. They can be from your loved one, family, friends, whoever. They just make me smile and feel happy. The best ones are the unexpected ones; the "just because" ones.

All I want is you
So if you've been in the UK this past week you will have noticed Coronation Street celebrated it's 50th anniversary. If you didn't... where have you been?

A Fantasy Job
Another random blog from me - but I'm guessing you might be getting used to it by now :-) So anyway in a light hearted conversation with Spurs boy over what jobs we would do if we didn't have our current ones, it turns out I would like a job as a food critic!

Christmas Memories
I love Christmas and all the memories that it can bring. The above bauble was given to me by Father Christmas who came to visit my School when I was about six, the bauble was made by his helpers in his workshop (later I found out it was made by some school helpers, one of them was my Mum!) This bauble is always the first that I put on my Mum's Christmas tree when I go to help decorate the tree.

Dear Santa, can I have my tweets back?
Dear Santa
Now you will know I've been a good girl this year after my good report from work and Spurs boy :-) So apart from the long list of perfumes, clothes and shoes that I want for Christmas I wondered if you could help with the return of my tweets.

Sarah Loves.... Glee
Yes I know it's hugely embarrassing for me to admit that I love Glee, but I do. In theory I shouldn't like it; the cheesy songs, the over the top storylines and well did I mention it's really cheesy.

Lazy Sundays
The recent snow meant that Spurs boy's football match was postponed and meant we could have a super lazy Sunday yesterday. We were at the first of a few Christmas parties on Saturday night and I had got slightly "merry" shall we say! Then I stayed up till 3am to watch some cricket (I've seen more than I imagined I would be able to stay up for!)

Have a little patience...
I've always been tech savvy and there are few things that baffle me with computers. Most things that annoy and baffle me are way beyond my control though, sites such as facebook, tumblr and even blogger have become my recent ranting ground.

Visit your neighbours
I know I blogged about how much I love snow, and I still do. Just don't forget to think about those who find this weather too difficult to get out and about. Yesterday Spurs boy and I made the trip to visit his grandparents and we made sure we got their shopping done and made sure their heating was still working etc.

Why did I say that?
I know you've all done it. You've all said something to someone and then straight away wished you could take it back. You can't take it back. Those are the words that hurt and you said them to someone you care about.

Sarah Loves... Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds
Composer Jeff Wayne created the musical version of The War of the Worlds based on the H.G. Wells novel of the same name. There were no pictures, only a few select paintings that were in the accompanying booklet sold with the music, the imagery was left to the listener's imagination.

Nights in white satin
I've mentioned before that I love X Factor, and occasionally someone will cover a song that makes me want to hurl something at the TV (I always hope it will be a cushion rather than anything heavy!). On the odd occasion it might be a cover of a song that completely takes my breath away. The latter happened on Saturday night.

There could be snow ahead
Some of you may have already had a bit of snow or perhaps even a lot of snow. We had a light dusting yesterday morning but apparently we're in for a bit more show this weekend. I love snow - except when I need to get to work in it.

Man flu and Dan Carter
Purple Dawn in Seberang Perak, Malaysia - How beautiful is this picture? I've just ordered it in canvas :-)
This blasted cold has in fact turned into MAN FLU! Urgh. Run away and save yourselves, this is just not pretty. I struggled into work on Tuesday only to go through the some what embarrassing task of being told by your boss "I think you should go home" and me standing there trying to explain "But I feel ok though" as I coughed, spluttered and sneezed into my tissue. So I went home.

Sarah Loves... Channel 4's Misfits
I got absolutely hooked on Misfits as soon as I saw the trailer for Season One. The programme is about a group of young offenders who are in community service (check out those orange jumpsuits) and after an electrical storm they each get supernatural powers.

Time for The Ashes
The Ashes starts this week and I want to be able to stay up and watch it all but that's seriously gonna interrupt my sleeping pattern as coverage starts at 11pm here. I think my morning routine will involve meditation and then a cricket catch up! What a way to start the day :-)

Cookies and Top Gun
When I'm ill I'm a terrible patient, I hate looking after myself let alone when others try to do it. I'd been coming down with a cold at the beginning of the week and it's now a full blown cold *atchooooooooooo* and then I found out that I'm gonna need surgery on my knee. I have started having some pretty yucky treatments done on it already. I'll spare you the details.

Harry Potter is out tomorrow!
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows comes out tomorrow. I'm this excited *stretches arms out as far as I can*. So you see? Oh you can't. Oh well, imagine a kid on Christmas morning? Yes that's me. I'm THAT excited :-P

The Walking Dead
And before you ask "The Walking Dead" is not about what I look like in the mornings... no wait... maybe.
No actually "The Walking Dead" is an American TV series which is about the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. I'm not exactly one for horror or scary stuff, my Dad still remarks on when we saw Scream 2 at the cinema and I kept jumping through it *sigh*.

Thank you Solskjaer
So he's finally going, after months of speculation Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed as the new manager of Molde FK in Norway. He was my late Granny's favourite player and for me I guess this is why I've always loved Ole even more than I did already.

Sarah Loves... The Starbucks red cups
I blogged the other day about my Christmas countdown and then as quick as you know it another one happened. Starbucks red cups are in! I admit I very nearly squealed when I popped in on my lunch on Friday. So Christmas really is getting closer?

Bad sleeping habits
I've somehow got myself into a bad sleeping pattern and I'd blogged recently about being a good sleeper (that's karma). I wouldn't mind really but it's making me feel lethargic and I feel stressed about things that I shouldn't normally be concerned over.

Remember remember the 5th of November
I love fireworks. When they are on or around the 5th of November or are for a special event. I'm not keen on the firework noise that you hear on a random night in March for example.

I've been going through some of my favourite music tracks for a blog later this week and came across Fleetwood Mac's song "Everywhere". I've been a big fan of Fleetwood Mac since I was a child, my Dad listened to them a lot.

Bloggy Book Club
Helen over at icklebabe.com started a book club for bloggers, the idea is simple a book is chosen each month and at the end you all "meet" and review the book. Of course the "meet" happens on the person's blog who chose the book for that month.

My book reading visits
Deciding to help someone is a big thing and obviously if it's long term you have to promise to stick to it. A few months ago I started visiting a care home and reading a few pages of Sherlock Holmes stories to a elderly man with Alzheimers.

Never judge a book by its cover
I love social media but I've also seen the bad sides of it, there is so much abuse that is used and in some cases allowed to continue. I've seen over the years such hurtful comments made to people and all through "faceless" technology. Some people seem to have nothing better to do than to inflict their views onto others.
NaNoWriMo
Yes it's nearly November and this means it's very nearly time again for NaNoWriMo. Confused? Well I'll explain NaNoWriMo is the abbrevation for National Novel Writing Month.

The Ultimate Coat
I guess it does look like something out of the film "The Matrix" and I'm not one for buying much quirky stuff. My coats in the past have been more practical and well really the same style. I've liked the military style and of course over here in the UK you have to have the trusty coat with a hood.
