Possibly not an obvious choice for my Sarah Loves... blogs but Any Given Sunday is one of my favourite films. I always tend to watch it around the time of the Superbowl. It's not one of the greatest films ever but it's got one of the best motivational speeches ever.

A different family history
At school I did enjoy history but I confess I do not know that much about the history of the Royal Family. Yes I know how dare I live here and not know the ins and outs of the most famous family, but I don't. After watching The King's Speech I felt I was suddenly putting it all together more clearer in my head.

Sarah Loves... Toy Story
Image from HERE
Toy Story is awesome right? I love it. I don't just mean the first one, I mean the second and the third too. There are rumours of a fourth film too, and I'm sure I'll love that one too.

The Care Bears Movie

Yes this is a blog about The Care Bears Movie. Stop giggling. This isn't a blog about it being my favourite kids film; although I admit it's probably on the list but the reason I'm blogging about it is that the evil spirit woman in the book still scares me when I watch it now!

Black Swan
Image from HERE
I've wanted to see the film Black Swan for some time and I've noticed already that it's getting a lot of publicity and especially amongst the fashion magazines. I'm not much of a fashion magazine reader but I admit I do dabble every now and then. I've noticed a ballerina esque style to some designs. I've also spotted a few ballerina type exercises being used throughout yoga classes and some gyms are also running "Ballet workouts".

Cookies and Top Gun
When I'm ill I'm a terrible patient, I hate looking after myself let alone when others try to do it. I'd been coming down with a cold at the beginning of the week and it's now a full blown cold *atchooooooooooo* and then I found out that I'm gonna need surgery on my knee. I have started having some pretty yucky treatments done on it already. I'll spare you the details.

Harry Potter is out tomorrow!
Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows comes out tomorrow. I'm this excited *stretches arms out as far as I can*. So you see? Oh you can't. Oh well, imagine a kid on Christmas morning? Yes that's me. I'm THAT excited :-P

Sarah Loves... Empire Records
You've seen it right?
If not, you are missing out and if you have seen it then you know why I love it so much.
Empire Records is a film about a small independent record shop managed by Joe. His employees are all high-schoolers and young adults. The staff is very much a self-created family, with Joe as the reluctant and annoyed father figure.

The A-Team Trailer
I was a big fan of the TV show and was intrigued when they said they were going to make a film. The cast has Liam Neeson (Colonel John “Hannibal” Smith), Bradley Cooper (Lieutenant Templeton “Faceman” Peck), Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (Sergeant Bosco Albert “B.A.”, Bad Attitude, Baracus), and Sharlto Copley (Captain H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock).
Here's the trailer for the film, what do you reckon? (Cooper looks hot...as always!)

Sherlock Holmes film- Go see it!
Sherlock Holmes is my second favourite film of 2009 (Inglorious Bastards is 1st and SH only came out Christmas Day!). I felt Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law were amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed their bromance. I have seen on other blogs/reviews that bromance is used to highlight a sexual relationship between the two characters, this is not what bromance means! Idiots...
This film is of course a Guy Ritchie/Joel Silver version of Sherlock Holmes and as a fan of Ritchie's previous work (maybe not Rock N Rolla) I knew we were in for some high speed action sequences - he did not disappoint. I admit the plot was somewhat limiting but it was more about the characters who have to solve the crime. I'm sure if there is to be another film (there is talk of this being a franchise) then the plot may have to be better but RDJ and Law's performance's were enough to cover the weak story; this was also helped by a good supporting cast too. There are a few accurate reviews I've seen and of course Watson has his own review too.
I thoroughly recommend the film though and hope the DVD release is packed full of extras as some scenes seemed to be cut from the trailers!
Also anyone notice a certain Manchester United footballer in the film? Well maybe not actually him but someone who looks a lot like him. Although if it is actually him can he stop acting for Ritchie now and START playing football...
Or is it Andy Garcia?

Holmes For The Holiday
Over this holiday period I will hopefully find time to go and see Sherlock Holmes.
After finally catching serial killer and occult "sorcerer" Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), legendary sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) and his assistant Dr. Watson (Jude Law) can close yet another successful case. But when Blackwood mysteriously returns from the grave and resumes his killing spree, Holmes must take up the hunt once again. Contending with his partner's new fiancée and the dimwitted head of Scotland Yard, the dauntless detective must unravel the clues that will lead him into a twisted web of murder, deceit, and black magic - and the deadly embrace of temptress Irene Adler (Rachel McAdams).
I was reminded yesterday of another Jude Law film "Alfie" and I'm sure all ladies will remember a certain scene in the film involving him in a white vest whilst playing pool, you know the one ;-)
Back to Sherlock Holmes and a website you might be interested in, is that of John H. Watson's. Let me know if you see the film over the holiday season and Merry Christmas!

Happiness is...?
It's a good question - What is happiness?
There is no real definition of happiness and I can't really tell you what happiness is, but I can tell you what makes me happy right now. This is my happiness list (in no particular order);
Eating a bag of peanut m&m's all to myself
When Manchester United win
Reading a good book or watching one of my favourite TV programmes/films
Seeing my god-children and realising how grown up they get each time I see them
Sharing a smile with a stranger
Making a music playlist
Sitting in the sunshine
Seeing a beautiful rainbow
Having a good laugh - you know the ones that make your sides hurt!
Spending time with friends and family
Happiness can not really be described or calculated - it can only be felt, and experienced. Quotes like these can give us a clue

I believe the key to happiness is to stop pursuing it, to realise that happiness awaits...within yourself... in all of us."Remember happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think."
-- Dale Carnegie"It is a sad thing to look at happiness only through another's eyes."
-- Marquerite Blessington"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
-- GandhiAnd, this one by Woody Allen:
"I am thankful for laughter, except when milk comes out of my nose."
It's about accepting yourself, your life, your situation, and enjoying all of these things without wishing for more.
It also means you accept your mistakes and have the desire to start all over again. Happiness is not perfection but learning to accept your own shortcomings. For as long as you believe in yourself, others will accept and believe in you. For as long as you know how to give love, love will be given back to you ten folds.
What is on your happiness list?

My Music
As you can see from the above playlist my music is quite a varied bunch, and that playlist was specially chosen to complement each other.
At the moment I have got Lily Allen's "Not Fair" song in my head, its just got such a catchy tune and the song lyrics do make me chuckle! I just downloaded the Remote application for the iphone, now I can control my itunes on my computer from my phone, it's just amazing! Not sure why I hadn't downloaded it before to be honest.
I'm going to watch the film "Empire Records" tonight for probably the millionth time. I know I'm not the one only one who wanted to work in that record store, how cool would that be!
Bye for now
Sarah
