The Friday File #4 - Tom Hardy

The first time I really took 'notice' of Tom Hardy was in two TV appearances. These were Martina Cole's TV adaptation of her book The Take and also as Heathcliff in a Wuthering Heights TV spot. Films like Inception, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and of course this year's The Dark Knight Rises have turned Hardy into a household name. He will next be seen as the iconic Mad Max and will be in Mad Max: Fury Road next year.

But I just love, love, love him!

My vote for Sports Personality of the year goes to...

This year's Sports Personality of the Year is surely going to be the hardest and closest that it has ever been. 2012 has been an epic year for sport, how you can choose from all the Olympians and Paralympians is just hard enough in itself. There are seven names that all stand out for me, yes I managed to get the list down to seven. It could have been twenty!

On my list are Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis, Andy Murray, Sir Chris Hoy, Ellie Simmonds and David Weir. The seventh choice and who gets my vote would be...

Music Monday: Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks

I have loved this song for ages but recently I've been back listening to the album and obviously this song has been totally stuck in my head again. It's such a beautiful song with such gorgeous lyrics. Love it!

I believe there's a tour coming. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

The Friday File #3 - Jude Law

Ah Jude. Lovely Jude. Isn't he just lovely? Yep. Yes he is. The films that I love that he's in are; The Talented Mr Ripley, Alfie (yes!), Lemony Snicket (he's the narrator, Lemony Snicket), The Holiday and of course Sherlock Holmes.

The day the Twitter playground got nasty

I was eight years old when the Hillsborough tragedy happened. I remember seeing it on the news and being confused over how something could have happened to football fans. Over the years we have all watched the families of those 96 Liverpool fans fight for the truth. Finally they got the truth last week, 23 years later.

Music Monday: Pink - Blow Me One Last Kiss

This might surprise a lot of people but I absolutely adore Pink, I have all her albums and I know all the words to her songs. I find her music uplifting and some of the lyrics have helped me get over stepping stones in my life. She's back with new music and a new album that's out today.

The Friday File #2 - Ryan Gosling

This man makes me quiver, yep quiver! Have you seen Crazy Stupid Love? Oh my goodness me. Have you seen Drive? The Notebook? The list goes on and on. Mr Gosling has captured both females and even males, yes we know that you guys have a lot of man love for Ryan too. It makes it easier for us to go to his films with you ;-)

Gordon Ramsey's Ultimate Cookery Course

I love cooking and I absolutely love cookery programmes and you might have missed this one start this week. Gordon Ramsey's Ultimate Cookery Course started on Monday at 5pm (yes, well before the watershed!) and it is on every day on Channel 4. The programme is 30 minutes long with plenty of recipes and tips.

On Monday we were told how important your frying pan was, so don't be afraid if you use yours loads too. There were tips about how to sharpen your knives to how to pick the best chicken at the butchers. The recipes were really simple and most took less than 30 minutes.

There is a book that accompanies the series which I'm going to have to purchase. It's also a good time to watch it as 5pm means you're hungry for dinner unlike when I watch The Great British Bake Off at 8pm and snack!

You can catch up with the programme on 4OD but I'd watch it before you're about to eat or at least make sure you have low fat snacks on hand....

;-)

Music Monday: No Doubt - Settle Down

No Doubt are back

This song didn't at first make me feel overly excited about their new album that is due out this month but now after a few listens, I love it.

Two things;

1. Too much product placement (tacky)

2. Gwen Stefani does not age does she? She's stunning!!!

Single is out on the 16th with the album on the 24th. nodoubtofficial.co.uk

The Friday File #1 - Dan Carter

The most obvious start in my Friday File was always (of course) going to be rugby player Dan Carter. The man who recently caused me to scream when he joined twitter and had made me do the same earlier when he joined instagram. Hello Dan. He's one of my favourite rugby union players and I hope one day he gets to play over here and not just for New Zealand.

I'd recommend Saracens if he reads this blog as the club of choice...

mypure Review: Balance Me moisture rich face cream

I wrote a while ago about my sudden dry skin episode and when choosing another product to review from mypure I went with the Balance Me face cream. I had read a few recommendations in magazines and thought I'd give it a go, it's the most expensive face cream I have ever had at £24.

The blurb

Allow your skin to benefit from the sophisticated, high performance, deeply hydrating daily moisturiser that leaves the perfect slip finish on your complexion, without that shiny appearance.

The concentrated cream provides a protective layer to shield the skin from daily wear and tear thanks to a skin boosting, plumping blend of natural yet active ingredients. Anti oxidant rich Arctic cloudberry extract helps to prevent moisture loss and improve skin elasticity. Organic shea butter is blended with vitamin, lipid and essential fatty acid rich camellia, rosehip and kukui nut oils. The bespoke blend of rose absolute, rose geranium, lemon and benzoin along with natural source vitamin E, ensures that normal, sensitive and mature skins can benefit from more radiant and rejuvenated looking complexions.

My Review

The smell of this is lovely. Full of essential oil type smells and it felt luxurious to put this on my face, although that could have been because I was thinking about the price! You don't need much at all and it doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy and dries quickly. It does have a pump action nozzle which are one of my beauty no-no's. Even cleaning the nozzle after each use I still found that the tube got gunked up loads. Not quite sure why they chose that style nozzle for this product. Might be wrong but I was expecting a better style bottle for the price and this seemed cheap, especially when it's priced at £24.

I really loved this cream and would make a repeat purchase but I would definitely move it into a more accessible pot. For customer satisfaction on packaging I wouldn't spend £24 on this. I have noticed there is a smaller 10ml version for £6 which comes in tube packaging, I think I'd be more tempted to get the smaller version even though the one I tried is 50ml.

mypure deliver worldwide (postage charges apply) and they pride themselves on organic beauty products. The website is easy to use, you'll be emailed promptly with your order details and when it has been despatched and the delivery is quick.

Music Monday: The Band - The Weight

I have heard so many covers of this song but still the original is the best. That's not to say that the covers I've heard have been bad but like most songs the original always sits better in the heart. Right?

I've also noted in a few movies and TV series over the years too. It's just one of those songs that instantly makes me sway along and of course sing a long too. Love it and its perfect for the first Monday of September.

Seriously where is this year going?
