Reading isn't a task!

I write a to-do list every single day with ten things that I need to do. I keep it to ten, why do more? ;-) I wrote one on Sunday and didn't even notice really what I'd written down until I read it back through, there are number six was "READ MY BOOK".

Since when did this become a task? No, no, no, no. Then I thought back to when I had last read my book. Ummmmm when was that...

I have books to read for the review site that I write for over with Larissa but my actual book pile was just increasing and I wasn't reading. How did this happen? When was my "me time" gone?

I then put aside my to-do list and made myself a cuppa hot chocolate with whipped cream (yep!) and three* bourbon biscuits and sat down for a whole hour with my book. It was bliss. It's not something that needs to go on my to-do list but it is important to my zen. I just need to assign time differently, reading isn't a task. It's a love.

*Biscuits should always be in three's. One is never enough, two is not quite hitting the spot but four is one away from five! Three is the ultimate in biscuit numbers.

Kindle vs Books

I love reading and I've loved the ease of being able to read on my iPad using either the iBooks app or the Amazon kindle app. I admit I tend to use the Amazon app mostly but I still have many annoyances with kindle books.

There could be snow ahead

Some of you may have already had a bit of snow or perhaps even a lot of snow. We had a light dusting yesterday morning but apparently we're in for a bit more show this weekend. I love snow - except when I need to get to work in it.

Top 100 Book List

I've kinda nicked this idea from a new twitter follower I got last week, I absolutely love reading new blogs and this is the latest blog to be added to my blogroll Eema's Thoughts & Ramblings.

Bloggy Book Club

Helen over at icklebabe.com started a book club for bloggers, the idea is simple a book is chosen each month and at the end you all "meet" and review the book. Of course the "meet" happens on the person's blog who chose the book for that month.

My book reading visits

Deciding to help someone is a big thing and obviously if it's long term you have to promise to stick to it. A few months ago I started visiting a care home and reading a few pages of Sherlock Holmes stories to a elderly man with Alzheimers.

Recycling books

What do you do with your books once you have read them? Sell them on ebay, pass on to a friend, take to a charity shop are a few options. Of course most people put their books onto a bookshelf and leave them there to gather dust, or is that just me?

Kindle App for iPhone and iPad

I've always stuck to the idea that although I wanted a kindle I couldn't get my head around not reading an "actual book". I love the smell of a new book and turning over pages of a "real" book. So the kindle didn't really appeal to me.

Then Spurs boy bought an iPad and all that changed.

One Year Blog Anniversary Giveaway

I first started this blog in June last year and I had intended to do a Giveaway in honour of this occasion, and then the next thing I knew it was July, and now it's the middle of July so I'm late. Oops! But as I have more of a reason to celebrate now I'll get on with it!

But anyway onto the giveaway, I've got some lovely goodies from Grace and Firefly, a great etsy shop and also she's a great tweeter too here. So onto the goodies:

Soul mates

"There are millions of people in the world, and the spirits will see that most of them, you never have to meet. But there are one or two you are tied to, and the spirits will cross you back and forth, threading so many knots until they catch and you finally get it right"

Are you sitting comfortably?

I do like a good book but even better if a man will read to me ;-)

Now Carte Noire is providing some very sexy men who will read to you, sadly they do not come to your house :-(

I want my own library!

I'd love my own library. No really, I would. I currently have all my books in genre order and then author alphabetically in our study (Geeky? I don't care**) My books are on one side and Spurs boy's are on the other. I have more than him...just about anyway *goes to re-count* Yes I have more than him :-))

The Good The Bad and The Ugly of my week

A very strange week all in all. But glad the sunshine has been making an appearance this week. Always a plus!

How are we all?

Sarah Loves...Books

I love books, I always have a book next to the bed but I have been known to get into quite a lapse reading pattern. Admittedly it does depend on the book, some I can take a few days to get through and others can take me weeks and dare I say it months.

For Christmas I Got...

I hope you all had a good Christmas and that Santa was very good to you all!

I had a good Christmas, I have drunk far too much alcohol in the past few days and definitely need a detox now although the New Year festivities will bring more drinking :-)

I had a early Christmas present... I am no longer single :-). I've noticed on some blogs that I read that they don't tend to name their other half by name and instead give them a nickname. So I am calling mine "Spurs Boy", he is indeed a Tottenham Hotspur season ticket holder and myself as a Manchester United fan this is going to cause some banter... well opposites attract right?

Don't want to say too much as I don't want to curse it, but I've known him for over 3 years and he makes me happy :-)

And for Christmas he bought me books... I have had my eye on the Penguin Classic clothbound re-issues (20 books in total) that were released this year (2009) and Spurs Boy bought some of them for me :-) which means he had listened and knew which ones were my favourites (although in time I would like them all!).

I now have The Hound of the Baskervilles, Alice In Wonderland, Wuthering Heights, Great Expectations, Little Women and Oliver Twist. They are truly beautiful.

He also bought me some Lush goodies so he must have been reading my blog! I was indeed spoilt. But it's lovely. Enough before you all need a sick bucket :-(

I also got lots of jewellery, make- up, gadgets for work including a desktop Henry hoover for my desk! Haha! I will be travelling 'up north' on Tuesday for more presents as I visit my Dad and the rest of my family.

I will post my The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of my week tomorrow. What did you all get for Christmas?
