Sarah Hates... it when people don't change the channel

I realise that we can not all like every single sport, band, film... as the next person but I do know that every single day we have the choice to not sit through something we don't like. Many times I have seen people incessantly moan about a band, TV programme, sport but they continue to sit there watching it.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!?!

Now... I realise that is down to you what you watch but why must you update across various social networks that you hate this band/TV programme/sport but are still watching it. Not only that but you have mentioned hours earlier that the band/TV programme/sport is going to be on later and how much you dislike them. Do you not realise that you don't have to watch it?

My Favourite Television Programmes of 2012

I am not sure I can put together just one simple Top 5 for TV programmes from this year but I will try.

5. Person of Interest

I rarely watch Channel 5 but a rare channel hop and I caught the trailer for the season premiere of Person of Interest. I thought I'd add it to my Sky+ and if it was rubbish I could delete it. It wasn't rubbish, in fact it's pretty great TV.

Finally I've given up on X Factor

It was inevitable really wasn't it? I have written several times on my blog about my addiction to The X Factor, I've probably written about a thousand and maybe more tweets about it. So far this series I've watched about 30 minutes, I'm simply bored of it.

Last year was definitely when I really got sick of it, all the sparkle had gone and I was tired of the sob stories. Just let them sing FFS! Now my Saturday nights involve catching up with other TV programmes. Wasn't X Factor on for nearly 3 hours over the weekend, why did I waste my life watching it?

No more. I'm taking my life back. Besides Strictly starts this weekend... yes I know, I know. Shhhh!




 

Sarah Loves... The Big Bang Theory

I absolutely love this series. If I ever need cheering up I always turn to The Big Bang Theory. For me it has probably replaced Friends in my sitcom favourites. I didn't watch the series from when it first started but a friend had suggested I watch it from the start when they were just starting showing season two. I was hooked and also a little in love with Leonard. Yup, Leonard.

Leonard and Penny's will they/won't they relationship could be seen to parallel alongside Ross and Rachel from Friends. With Sheldon being the highly eccentric quirky character and Jim Parsons who plays him so well is obviously the star of the show. That said the whole cast is superb and although Sheldon's moments are amongst the favourite ones on the show with Leonard, Penny, Howard and Rajesh they make the perfect cast of geeky nerds.

I can't quite work out my all time favourite Big Bang Theory moment although Sheldon's valium and Batman admission and then him in the ballpit shouting bazinga are up there on my list. But I've just got to put 'soft kitty' as my favourite part, who else gets it sung to them when they are sick now? I do!

I especially like it when Sheldon and Penny sing it as a round :-)

Oh yeah the other reason I love Big Bang Theory is my girl crush on Kaley Cuoco. Wowzers.

 

My Favourite TV Programmes of 2011

The last of my 2011 round ups and this one is about the TV programmes I've liked. Again I'm back to indecisive ways so I have a Top 5 and then special mentions to others. That's the way I roll :-)

Sarah Loves... The Sopranos

This ground breaking series is one of my all time favourites and I am loving the episodes being repeated on Sky Atlantic even though I do have the boxsets. But sitting down to watch them for some reason every week is good, much like The X- Files repeats too. Yeah writing that it doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's what I do.

Doctors & Detectives

When I was at secondary school I wanted to be a barrister, yes even if I had to wear one of those wigs! Sadly the thought passed when I realised academically there was no way that I would achieve that goal. I had another thought of being a doctor but again this passed due to my non science academical mind. 

Sarah Loves... The X-Files

When The X-Files were first about to shown on UK screens my Dad had been talking about the series after being in America on business when the show first aired there. For whatever reason I was intrigued and I chose to watch them with him. I probably had the viewpoint of a mixture of Mulder and Scully, that I wanted there to be something else out there and then on the side of but I had no proof either.

I admit loving a TV channel is pretty tragic, especially when the channel doesn't launch until tonight! As soon as I first saw the advert I was hooked, I wanted it, NOW. As you know I'm not the most patient person ever.

So if you've been in the UK this past week you will have noticed Coronation Street celebrated it's 50th anniversary. If you didn't... where have you been?

Sarah Loves.... Glee

Yes I know it's hugely embarrassing for me to admit that I love Glee, but I do. In theory I shouldn't like it; the cheesy songs, the over the top storylines and well did I mention it's really cheesy.

Sarah Loves... Channel 4's Misfits

I got absolutely hooked on Misfits as soon as I saw the trailer for Season One. The programme is about a group of young offenders who are in community service (check out those orange jumpsuits) and after an electrical storm they each get supernatural powers.

The Walking Dead

And before you ask "The Walking Dead" is not about what I look like in the mornings... no wait... maybe.

No actually "The Walking Dead" is an American TV series which is about the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. I'm not exactly one for horror or scary stuff, my Dad still remarks on when we saw Scream 2 at the cinema and I kept jumping through it *sigh*.

Sarah Loves... In Treatment

TV Series In Treatment was first shown on UK screens here I was actually myself "in treatment" as they say, mentioned it here. In Treatment is about a psychotherapist Dr Paul Weston and his weekly sessions with his patients. The 5 nights a week series then followed each of his patients visits through each week and the last one of the week would be Paul's visit to his own psychotherapist.

Sarah Loves... Don Draper

Ever since I first started watching Mad Men I was ultimately always going to fall in love with Don Draper. I mean seriously, who wouldn't?

Who Do You Think You Are

I've always been a bit into family history stuff. I absolutely love the Who Do You Think You Are TV series and I've always wanted to get into my own family history.

Sarah Loves... Grey's Anatomy

No other programme seems to send me into complete meltdown after each season finale. Season Six was no exception to this rule, my heart still gets palpitations thinking about it.(Warning! Contains spoilers). 

We love a bad guy right?

We all love a bad guy right?

Ok maybe not ALL of us do but there is something about a bad guy that is strangely attractive. Maybe it's because everyone warns you away from him that makes you want him more. It's so unfair.

If there's no truth and honesty there would never be love

Someone who reads my blog might be interested to know that the series is mainly written by Paul Abbott who was born and bred in Burnley. Much of the series is based on his own experiences growing up there.

One Tree Hill is back... and it's all so different

Season 7 started last week on E4. Even though there is now no Lucas and Peyton :-( I still found myself totally gripped by it and wanting to watch the next episode.
