"I'm in love and always will be"

Reading about HMV and Blockbuster facing closure recently it reminded me of my own fears when I faced redundancy years ago. I worked for HMV's main competitor Virgin Megastores (my town didn't have a HMV) and it was the job I always wanted. Every time I went in there I used to imagine what it would be to work in there. Music was and still is a massive part of my life and to be able to go to work and really love what I did.

I ended up working for WHSmith for my first job, I was on the stationery department. I spent most of my wages on stationery! Our music department was so small and I'd see people come in with the yellow and red bag and want to be the one to give them that bag. Every time I looked there were no vacancies and then years passed. Just when I was ready to turn my back on retail I went into the store and saw the vacancies sign... applied, got an interview and started by the following week. I WAS IN!

Music Monday: Armand Van Helden - My My My

Another diverse music choice from me but that's the charm of me, right?

This song was released in 2006 and always makes me think of sunshine, beaches and smiley, happy people. I hope those days aren't far from us this year. I'm ready for sun, sea and sand. Aren't you?

The video will probably appeal more to my male viewers, enjoy ;-)

The Friday File #26 - Adam Levine

You know him. Everyone knows him.

Adam Levine, the frontman of Maroon 5 and you get extra points if you can name the rest of the band (there is no prize!) as I can't do it without using wikipedia. You can't go wrong with a bit of Maroon 5 on your iPod, although I do prefer the earlier stuff and Adam Levine is pretty hot.

Right?

Plants Vs. Zombies FAIL!

I'm such a stubborn wotsit when purchasing games for my iPad. I have started to only put games on my iPad and use my iPhone for calls, texts, WhatsApp, twitter and the other randomness I have on there. I have also tried to stop downloading so many games... that's not gone so well admittedly.

Plants Vs Zombies has always intrigued me but it's a paid app and whilst not being skint, I prefer to try out a game first and see whether I really do like it. It's just what I do! So at the end of February this game was free for two weeks I think.

In true "me" style I downloaded the game at gone midnight one Friday and I was up until 2am playing! Oops. I simply had to go to bed so off I went, dreaming of zombies...

The next morning I woke up and in another "me" style I grabbed my iPad to get playing again. The game wouldn't load. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Deleted the app and start over, all my progress lost. It worked again and then repeat the process. I could continue to do this but this app was the App store's 'app of the week'. Update please!

I tweeted popcap and got nothing! Tweeted Plants Vs Zombies and I got a reply but that was weeks ago. The thing that really annoyed me was that they didn't acknowledge any complaints until the free period was over. They were tweeting loads about it being free BUT the app doesn't work we would cry!

The sceptic in me has seen they are waiting to bring out No 2 this year, anyone else think they won't bother to fix this app and just wait for the No 2 version to come out? The game is no longer free and yes I know that 69p will not break the bank for buying an app BUT buying an app that doesn't work would seriously p*** me off!

Also the lack of real feedback and announcements from Popcap make me think they don't care.

Shame really, the game was good but I am one of those if you p*** me off once I won't hang around for it to happen again. Thoroughly put off No 2 and Popcap in general. So all round bad PR... oh no wait, non existent PR. Awful.

Music Monday: The Pigeon Detectives - Romantic Type

You'll know already that I go through cycles with my iPod and my music genre can be pretty random at the best of times. Hearing this song on a recent goal highlights programme made me out the whole album back onto my iPod.

There's just something about this song. Love it.

The Friday File #25 - David Lyons

David Lyons first caught my eye in ER (another TV series I must re-visit at some point, when I have the time!)and then I decided to see what the fuss was all about with Sea Patrol that he was in. Then he literally appeared and got a bit naked (a whole lot of naked really) in the film Eat Pray Love. He also starred in The Cape which I loved and was disappointed a second series was not made. Recently he has been in the film Safe Haven and will be on UK screens in the sci fi drama Revolution later this month.

Sarah Loves... Bolero

I was 3 years old when Torvill and Dean performed Bolero but I still find even now that watching the original makes me cry. I haven't been a big Dancing on Ice fan for a few years now but I always have had a sneak peek to watch Torvill and Dean perform.

I will always tune in for Bolero, I know that they do variations on the original and this year's final show had them take it up to a new level.

I even managed to watch their Life Stories programme with that idiot Morgan, it's still on the ITV player and really worth watching.

Music Monday: Dido - No Freedom

I have always liked Dido songs and one of my very first favourite songs is the Faithless collaboration 'Hem of his Garment'. Also the album 'Life for Rent' has particular memories for me that I will explain later this month and there's just something about her voice that makes me feel calm. This new song 'No Freedom' is exactly the same, I love it.

Taken from her new album Girl Who Got Away

The Friday File #25 - Chris Evans

Chris Evans the actor NOT the presenter!

Let's get that cleared up straight away. I saw him in Fantastic Four and and The Rise of the Silver Surfer and I think that's all I need to say about those films. I absolutely LOVED Captain America: The First Avenger and of course Avengers Assemble. I'm looking forward to the Captain America sequel in 2014. There has also been Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and I also loved What's Your Number?

mypure review: Natural Being Manuka Honey Eye Cream

Another mypure review but this time all about eyes. I'm in my thirties now and whilst I have noticed my skin change over the years I always forget about my eyecare. Yes. Yes. I know. So trying Natural Being Manuka Honey Eye Cream seemed a little late to be honest.

I was a bit worried that this would be too heavy or even possibly irritate my eyes. I didn't need to worry. When I got used to the tube, why is it with any tube that you squeeze it the first time and then realise "oops too much". You don't need much and the tube is quite small but not fiddly small. There is a slight smell but nothing overpowering which would have really put me off before even applying this.

It's one of my must have products now and I really should have been looking after my eyes a lot sooner.

No wrinkles here... YET!

Music Monday: Feist - 1234

This song is pronounced One Two Three Four and this is one of my favourite go-to happy songs. Sometimes I'll randomly start singing One Two Three Four and immediately start smiling. Yes I am that sad. Or happy. You know what I mean ;-)

You can buy the album Metals here

The Friday File #24 - Chris O'Donnell

I think it was a certain Robin costume where I first saw Chris O'Donnell and thought he's pretty handsome. Or words to that effect anyway. When I started watching NCIS: Los Angeles it was good to see him finally get a series and also meant that he would be on my TV often. You may have seen him in in the film Scent of a Woman and TV series Grey's Anatomy, he was also down to play Jack Dawson in Titanic but Leo DiCaprio got the role.
