The Brits Fury

Last week it was The Brit Awards and yes I realise I'm a bit late in writing about this but I've been a bit astounded that people moaned on the night about the awards and are also continuing to do so. The Brit Awards are an award show for mainstream music, they do not cater for every music fan and I thought that had been pretty obvious in the previous years. Apparently my twitter feed suggested not and also that people had nothing better to do than tweet their fury for the entire show - you don't get made to watch it!

This year I had no idea about the nominations at all, actually no that's not true. I knew that Amy Winehouse was nominated as that had been on the news. I figured One Direction, Taylor Swift and Emeli Sande would be scooping the majority of the awards. I still chose to watch it and I might actually have only tweeted once during the show, I tweeted in defence of One Direction!

Moving on... quickly!

The nominations then were a surprise to me, so much so that I spent most of the evening saying "Ooh I like them... and them... and them... ooh and them". I was surprised in a good way, yes there were the expected awards to One Direction, Emeli Sande and Adele but Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys and Ben Howard were fantastic winners but unexpected to me. Yes the programme was full of a certain credit company name emblazoned on anything in shot and yes James Corden is now slightly annoying but the show is what it is - a mainstream music show.

I seemed to know how to use the remote and used it to turn the volume up, others should have just switched off. Think of all the other things you could have been doing or you could have been listening to the music you love!

People are so silly.

Music Monday: Snow Patrol - The Lightning Strike

I absolutely adore this song and again as I've been looking through some recent but yet old albums (in my music book way of thinking), this song popped up on my iPod. The song in full is sixteen minutes and eighteen seconds long and it actually is three songs in one and is amazing live. This snippet is "What If This Storm Ends?".

The Friday File #23 - Shayne Ward

Don't tell anyone but Shayne Ward might possibly be my favourite X-Factor winner...

His X-Factor winning single "That's My Goal" got me through one of the busiest Christmas periods I can remember in retail. Yes the song was over played but he helped. I don't watch Dancing on Ice and I was surprised to read on twitter that he had been voted off so soon. These photos of his Attitude shoot were all over Tumblr and you'll understand why.

It's about to get hot in here.

Music Monday: Basement Jaxx (featuring Lisa Kekaula) - Good Luck

I absolutely loved Basement Jaxx. Loved them and I still do. I've not played any of their music in ages and ages. So a shuffle list on my iTunes played 'Good Luck' and now Basement Jaxx are on my iPod again, my car, I'm listening to them right now...

Love, love them and absolutely love this track.

The Friday File #22 - Danny Care

Danny Care plays rugby union for Harlequins as scrum half but he can also play fly-half. Last season Harlequins became English Champions and it was because of some of his performances that they did so well. Last year was not a good year for him off the field, he was charged with drink driving and several separate drunk and disorderly charges. He gave up alcohol after England dropped him for last year's Six Nations campaign as he wanted his place back.

Which he got and deserves his place. Plus he's lovely. *swoon*

Overuse your punctuation at your peril

I will sound like a massive hypocrite as I write this as I do overuse punctuation sometimes BUT not in professional emails. There seems to be a trend to ask a question and follow that question with ?????? Just one will do.

Will I answer your email quicker? No. Am I p****d off with your rudeness? Yes.

Music Monday: Bastille - Pompeii

Bastille's album is released (finally) on March the 4th. I'd heard the odd song from them but hadn't really taken account of the band's name, eventually good old Shazam pointed me in the right direction. This song I love and it's currently being played as my alarm wake up tune.

You can pre-order the album here

The Friday File #21 - Dean Geyer

Dean Geyer was a contestant on Australian Idol in 2006 and after launching a music career he then joined the cast of Neighbours. In 2012 he starred in Terra Nova and has also recently joined Glee. Much to my smiles ;-)

The Friday File #20 - Alex O'Loughlin

I watched maybe one or two episodes of the original Hawaii 5-O series and I wasn't really interested in watching the new version. Turns out that I've watched every episode and despite some of the plots being totally stupid, it makes for easy Sunday night TV. Of course Alex O'Loughlin helps.

I need to check out his other series 'Moonlight'.
